happy for you guys! We absolutely loved Southern California, in fact if I had my choice of where I would live it would be back in Palm Springs!!! You will gorge on Mexican food, way better than the stuff we get in Chicago, the jalapeno infused margaritas are the best and you sure can’t beat the mild climate and beautiful mountainscapes. When we visited Ben at Master’s College, I couldn’t get over the vividness of the blue sky. So. Cal. is is all about incredible color and landscapes, and I liked the cool evenings. It opens your eyes to a wide world.

I LOVE So. Cal. I was born and raised here and am now raising my family. I love the variety in ethnic food available and especially the authentic Mexican food you can find around here. I also love the variety and selection of fresh fruit and vegetables year round as well as the great farmer’s markets available in most cities.

We, too, have an annual pass to Disneyland

also from chicago…moved west to seattle three years ago. I know it’s different from cali, but it’s reeeeally awesome to get more sunshine in your life. Chicago will be there to visit when you need that -20 degree winter fix, and you’ll always get to proudly call it home, but embrace the west coast! You’re about to have the best mexican food of your life at your doorstep!
your little guy will grow up playing at disneyland, the beach, just being outside year-round…I’m excited for you!
The move itself, you have my sympathy best of luck to you three.

Ahhh, you’ll love it out here. I’m a fellow So.Cal gal as well. I love everything out here – the PERFECT SUNNY WEATHER, delicious melting pot of food – food trucks are all the rage right now, cupcake bakeries everywhere, LA and all their glitz and glamour, Disneyland is here, and it’s a perfect timing for the summer for your little one, farmers markets are great, and soooo much more. Maybe we’ll have to meet up, too! Good luck with your move!

So now we know where you’ve been! I don’t know much (or anything) about the West as I’ve never been there, but I can empathize with your situation! We just found out over the weekend that we’re moving as well! Chris accepted an offer for a better opportunity in GA so all of my time now is going to be spent packing, cleaning, house hunting, etc.

I am a transplanted Michigander! We moved “west” six years ago (AZ and now NV). We love So Cal! Chicago has it’s own vibe, but so does Cali. You’ll notice a lot more skin and a lot more sunshine! My cooking changed a lot as well. Working in southwestern ingredients has been a lot of fun. Plus I think just about everyone in So Cal has an annual pass to Disneyland.
